1095 Blade Steel
Jeff Morgan works exclusively in 1095, a high-carbon steel known for its excellent hardness and edge retention, thanks to its approximately 0.95% carbon content. It achieves a significant Rockwell hardness of around 55-58 HRC, providing a sharp, durable edge suitable for heavy-duty tasks. 1095 is also prized for its toughness, allowing it to withstand impact and stress without chipping. Primarily used in fixed-blade knives, hunting knives, survival knives, and traditional weapons, 1095 steel offers a good balance of performance and affordability, making it a popular choice among knife makers and enthusiasts. Due to 1095 being a high-carbon steel, we recommend you dry it off completely after use and coat the blade with a thin application of a penetrating-style oil to help stave off corrosion.
Quinn Knives' take:
A classic Jeff Morgan camp knife, this blade features a straight back just made for batoning along with the ever-versatile drop point shape. The overall size is nice in that it can handle all the outdoor needs you have while not being overly large and obtrusive for daily carry.
