1095 Blade Steel
Jeff Morgan works exclusively in 1095, a high-carbon steel known for its excellent hardness and edge retention, thanks to its approximately 0.95% carbon content. It achieves a significant Rockwell hardness of around 55-58 HRC, providing a sharp, durable edge suitable for heavy-duty tasks. 1095 is also prized for its toughness, allowing it to withstand impact and stress without chipping. Primarily used in fixed-blade knives, hunting knives, survival knives, and traditional weapons, 1095 steel offers a good balance of performance and affordability, making it a popular choice among knife makers and enthusiasts. Due to 1095 being a high-carbon steel, we recommend you dry it off completely after use and coat the blade with a thin application of a penetrating-style oil to help stave off corrosion.

Canary Wood
Canary wood is a South American hardwood known for its vibrant yellow to orange heartwood, often featuring streaks of red, brown, or even green. It has a fine to medium texture with a natural luster, making it popular for decorative woodworking, furniture, and veneers. The wood is not only visually striking but also durable, with good workability and stability.

Jimping
Jimping refers to the textured notches or grooves along the spine of a knife blade, near the handle. It provides extra grip and traction for the user's thumb or fingers, enhancing control and safety during cutting tasks. Jimping is especially useful for precision work or when applying pressure to the blade. It helps prevent the hand from slipping, allowing for more secure handling in various cutting positions.

Quinn Knives' take:
If you are looking for a new skinning knife, this might be it. It is also strong enough to deal with general EDC tasks, making it a great companion for your daily travels, outside of hunting season.
