80CRV2 Blade Steel
Known for its impressive toughness and edge retention, this high-carbon, low-alloy tool steel is rather popular in knife-making. With a carbon content of around 0.8%, it hardens well and can reach a high Rockwell hardness, providing excellent wear resistance. The added chromium (Cr) enhances corrosion resistance slightly, while vanadium (V) contributes to fine grain structure, giving the steel a balance of durability and sharpenability.
Desert Ironwood
Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is an extremely dense, hardwood native to the Sonoran Desert, prized for its rich, dark color and striking grain patterns. Known for its exceptional hardness and durability, it resists wear and is often used in knife handles, fine woodworking, and ornamental applications. Its high density makes it sink in water and can be challenging to work with, but it polishes to a beautiful, glossy finish.
Quinn Knives' take:
This Hunter is that right length that allows you to carry it easily without having an overly cumbersome knife strapped to your hip, and thanks to the Kydex sheath, you'll be able to mount this in a variety of places (belt, pack, etc) in either a vertical or horizontal orientation. I love the standout blue G10 liner along with the detail work on the back of the handle. Very nice touches. All-in-all, another solid knife out of the Madewell forge.
