CloseFriction folders first originated in Miki, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan back in 1986 and have no traditional locking mechanism, instead relying on the unique design of the blade and handle to secure the blade. Originally known as a higonokami, a friction folder utilizes the blades extended lever to 'lock' the knife open along with the downward pressure of the users hand.
This Zanutto Custom friction folder features a tanto-style, acid etched, stonewashed 1095 steel blade coupled with green micarta scales held together with brass rivets. Best of all, it also has a bottle opener incorporated into the backside of the blade, make it the perfect summertime BBQ knife.
